After you defeat Ripto, If you push R3 and L3, Sparx will point out the nearest gem.

Ability To Find Treasure

To get Spyro's ability to find treasure, without doing his level, pause the game and press Circle (3), Left (2), Right (2). Left (2), Right (2). You will then have the ability to find treasure.
